Surf Experience Days  – For Cycstic Fibrosis

On August 27, 2010 and again on August 24, 2011, Ron Jon Surf School hosted the Mauli Ola Foundation’s Surf Experence Days event for people with Cystic Fibrosis. Event Director Bobby Serna and a host of famous surfers from Hawaii to Florida made in an incredible day out in the ocean for all participants, breathing the ocean air to help clear their lungs. Please visit www.mauliola.org for additional information.

Special Olympics State Surfing Festival

In 2010, Ron Jon Surf Shop initiated a first of its kind surfing program for Special Olympics Florida.  Ron Jon Surf School was contacted by Ron Jon and Special Olympics Florida to ask if we thought it was possible to teach some of their athletes how to surf. Based on past experience, we were certain that we were up to the challenge. In June 2010, we started training Special Olympics athletes for their first ever surfing program. In October 2010, we managed the first regional Special Olympics Florida surfing contest here in Cocoa Beach, FL and in September 2011 we hosted and managed the Special Olympics Florida Statewide Surfing Contest. Ron Jon Surf Shop is the statewide title sponsor for surfing with Special Olympics Florida and the hope is that the program will grow to other markets and one day will be included as an official sport for Special Olympics.  For more details, please visit www.specialolympicsflorida.org.

Surfers for Autism

In September 2009, the Surfers For Autism event took place here in Cocoa Beach, FL. Organized by Don Ryan, Surfers for Autism has grown to include events all over the state of Florida. With over 200 surfers and as many volunteers it was truly a memorable event. We look forward to continuing to participate in Surfers For Autism events in the Cocoa Beach area.
